I think this is one of the most successful Victorian terrace modernisation I've seen. It highlights all the original features and makes them look like modern art. It is also restrained with the glass extension (coming to really detest the glass box add on).
Australian planning laws seem to really champion good design, probably because they expect/demand so much residential space, so those dinky terraced have to be fiddled with in order to be sustainable. And as they are pretty much the oldest houses in the country they carry a sort of heritage grade listing. What ever the combination, Techne Architects Melbourne, it works.
